Reading in original language allows you to access works that have not been translated into French but also to be as close as possible to what the author actually wrote.
Some translators do a remarkable job (for example I read the biography of Michel Obama in French and the translation was sublime and my reading was very fluid) but others try by being too close to the original text, even if it means translating almost word for word, and the rendering is difficult or even impossible to read! I couldn’t read even one page of Usain Bolt’s biography because the translation was unpleasant.
If you are an avid reader, you will love the possibilities available to you thanks to the original version, whether for reading novels, biographers or non-fiction books. You could explore a subject that is close to your heart (personal development, business, parenting, etc.) directly in English, because the quantity of books published on the English-speaking market is greater than in France! 1. Watch films, series and documentaries in the original version
Have you ever watched the same English-speaking film twice, once dubbed in French and the other in the original version? I don’t know about you but I definitely prefer the second option, even if the film is in a language that I don’t speak! The voices, the noises, the music, the atmosphere, everything is different when the film is dubbed.
If you have never tried this, test a series in original version with French subtitles first, then try switching to English subtitles.
If you have Netflix or another streaming platform, you have probably noticed the amount of choice available to you in the English-speaking film market. Even if the version dubbed in French is often available, it is pleasant and motivating to watch the original version!

2. Find answers to all your questions on the internet (tutorials, YouTube video, blog article)
Just like books, series and films, the internet is full of content in English that you won’t always find in French: blog articles, YouTube videos, tutorials, Instagram accounts, podcasts, etc.
There is much more content available on the internet in the English-speaking sphere than in the French-speaking world. For example, you can find good deals for cheap travel to London with your children on a blog article, watch a tutorial for installing and creating your WordPress site, or follow an Instagram account of a positive parenting expert.
As I speak English fluently, I search for content on YouTube, Google and social networks almost exclusively in English, whether to plan a vacation, find marketing advice for my business or find advice for batch cooking . 3. Maintain your brain and boost your memory
A significant argument in favor, whether you are young or old, is that learning a new skill helps stimulate certain areas of your brain and would slow down aging. Stimulating your brain by learning a foreign language is a good way to boost your memory.
When you learn something new, like playing a musical instrument, starting a new sporting activity, or learning English, it stimulates your gray matter and neurons.
